Big Balloons and Custom Banners
A long day of traveling is never fun. Even the most patient people tend to lose their tempers in the airport. As a limo driver in New York City, I've spent my fair share of time at two of the country's busiest airports and have heard countless horror stories from even the most seasoned travelers about temper tantrums and mental breakdowns. When I first started in the limo business and would hear these stories, my initial inclination was to laugh at these people's inability to control their emotions. I learned quickly, however, that if my business was going to survive, I would have to refrain from patronizing my clients.
After dealing with one too many angry customers, I started paying attention to strangers' faces to see if I could figure out what kinds of emotions people felt while at the airport. Most of the faces I saw showed a mixture between indifference and annoyance, but every now and again I'd see someone who was happy and euphoric. The happy faces usually belonged to people who were reuniting with others from whom they had been seperated for a long time. As an experiment, I began to greet my clients at the airport as if I were greeting old friends. I would often greet my clients at the airport with a warm washcloth, an umbrella if it was raining or a small toy for young kids. I can now say that due to my research, my business is now the most profitable limo service in the entire country. All of my success can be attributed to my research, so keep reading to learn three great ways to greet your lover at the airport.
THE TRADITIONAL ROUTE: CARD, CANDY AND FLOWERS
The traditional route may sound kind of boring, but trust me, I've never seen a girl upset that her boyfriend bought her a bouquet of flowers or a nice card. You have to realize that since these are gifts, they are always unexpected and it's that element of surprise that people find so special. If you lack creativity, don't worry...it's the thought that counts! Another great thing about the traditional gift is that it's relatively inexpensive and all it requires in the way of shopping is a quick stop by your local grocery or drug store.
COME ON! GET THAT GIRL SOME BALLOONS!
For those who enjoy making a scene and getting attention, buy some balloons with crazy colors and wacky artwork. You can even write personal statements on your balloons so that your special someone will recognize you from far away. Trust me, buying balloons is a hit, so unless you are painfully shy, I recommend you go for it.
CUSTOM BANNERS ARE THE ULTIMATE WAY TO GREET THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE
My personal favorite method of airport greeting is with a banner sign. Custom banners require a bit more preparation on your part, but as long as you go to your local print banner maker and explain to him what you want, he will easily be able to craft you a high quality print banner in a very short amount of time. The best part about a custom banner is that it can be personalized, so you can include any message you want on your custom banner. Custom vinyl banners last forever! When my son returned home after spending a year in Australia, I greeted him with a and that custom banner is still hanging in his room to this day!
I hope that you will take my recommendations to heart and try one of them out the next time you are greeting a loved one at the airport. Remember, balloons and flowers are great, but make the biggest statement of all!
