You'd Have Trouble Smashing This Aluminum Metal Sign
You've seen it on television or in a movie; some person insists upon crushing an aluminum drink container against his head (ouch!) and the material crunches from 5 inches right down to 2 in one swift whack. This particular scene frequently leads people to think aluminum isn't as powerful as it truly is. But it's all about the grade of thickness - and beverage containers are not that heavy and durable, but an aluminum metal sign is!
Alright, so what does "grade of thickness" mean?
For instance, a single, small real estate property sign you generally see on display in yards is made of a single metal sheet that has a .040" grade of thickness.
While quite lightweight, this grade offers exactly the same quality as thicker grades in durability, weather resistance and design capabilities. Plus, you can easily pick your sign up and position it directly into another yard without straining your back. If you don't have to move your sign around regularly or plan on mounting it, a thicker grade of aluminum would be much better to use in for your .
The next step up is just a few "grades" away!
Larger metal signs typically call for a thicker gauge of aluminum. These larger signs usually are not meant to stand alone but to be installed on flat areas like an inside wall in your company or outdoors in an area with little traffic. Most sign businesses offer aluminum grades up to .083". Even though this is still comparatively thin, your metal sign will not flex, warp or be crushed by with your head!
Is there anything tougher than a .083" grade metal sign?
Certainly there is! For greater sized customized aluminum signs that will be hung between two standing posts or even mounted on the top of your company building, we suggest one of the following aluminum-based sign products.
* ARMOUR-Wood: This is the strongest aluminum-based metal sign material on the market today, and the name affirms it all. ARMOUR-Wood is a 1/2" piece of plywood sandwiched and sealed between two sheets of aluminum. Now that is one strong sign!
* Alumalite: This is an aluminum composite material (aluminum alloy composition) which falls right behind ARMOUR-Wood in terms of strength. It 's almost as thick, lighter in weight, and great for durability.
* Dibond: Although the least strong of these options, Dibond is ten times the thickness and strength of a single sheet of aluminum. A perfect option for overall flexibility and durability when you need a bit more than the .083" grade aluminum.
These types of signs demand very little maintenance and are made to last. You can totally customize any of these options to meet your business needs. Not quite sure if you need one of the thicker grades of aluminum or not? Not a problem! One of our very qualified sign specialists will be pleased to take you step-by-step through the selection process and help you select the proper grade for your
Whether it's a metal real estate sign or an ARMOUR-Wood billboard to attach on top of your business, you can be confident knowing that your aluminum based signs are tough, sturdy and there for the long haul. And we wouldn't suggest even trying to smash one of these signs against your head...you'd end up getting quite the awful headache if you did!
